We are looking for a skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our civil engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operating heavy machinery, specifically bulldozers, to move earth, rocks, and other materials at construction sites. The Heavy Equipment Operator will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the bulldozer, performing routine maintenance checks, and adhering to all safety protocols. This role requires a keen eye for detail, excellent hand-eye coordination, and the ability to work in various weather conditions. Responsibilities
- Exceptionally operate a fine grade dozer in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations
- Drives bulldozer in successive passes over terrain to raise or lower terrain to specified grade following markings on grade stakes or hand signals.
- Cleans dirt and debris from tracks using a track shovel/spade.
- Understands and is able to follow GPS blade control system.
- Understands and uses standard hand signals.
- Reads grade stakes.
- Ensure proper operation of equipment by performing regular checks on their functionality
- Document regular maintenance checks to maintain adequate records of equipment performance
- Provide preventative maintenance to ensure equipment is safe and operating properly
- Regularly clean equipment to preserve its quality and functionality
- Report needs for larger repairs to the appropriate parties
- Abide by all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as all company safety procedures
- Commit to the overall safety of the work environment by always taking extra precautions to work with the utmost care and consideration
- GPS experience a must
- Operate bulldozers to move earth and materials.
- Collaborate with site managers and other operators.
- Read and interpret blueprints and site plans.
- Make adjustments to the bulldozer as needed.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Follow project specifications and instructions.
- Assist with other construction tasks as needed.
- Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
- Operate other heavy machinery as required.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Document work progress and any incidents.
- Provide input on project planning and execution.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and work ethic.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid heavy equipment operator's license.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience operating bulldozers.
- Strong understanding of construction site safety protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and site plans.
- GPS Experience is a must.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Physical stamina and strength to operate heavy machinery.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Basic mechanical skills for routine maintenance.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- Knowledge of soil types and grading techniques.
- Experience with other heavy machinery is a plus.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends.

- Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
