Job Summary
INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT - SPECIAL EDUCATION : Under daily direction of a certificated classroom teacher and general supervision of the school principal or designee, performs paraprofessional instructional activities, clerical and supportive tasks to assist and free certificated staff in delivering the educational product to students with special educational requirements. INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT - SEVERELY DISABLED : Under daily direction of a certificated classroom teacher and general supervision of the school principal or designee, assists instructional staff by performing paraprofessional instructional activities, clerical and supportive tasks associated with the education, training and supervision of severely disabled students. Performs a variety of duties both in and out of the classroom and plays a major role in caring for the physical needs of the students.
Requirements / Qualifications
This job opportunity is open for public application and is promotional for qualified District applicants. Future permanent and substitute vacancies may also be filled from this recruitment.
PLEASE NOTE : Current OVSD classified employees may not hold two permanent job assignments. If you are already a permanent employee for the District and are interested in working more hours you may either submit a transfer request form to the Classified Personnel office or inquire about becoming a substitute in the same or other classifications, in addition to your permanent assignment.

There will be an application screening for the position to verify that the minimum qualifications (education & experience) have been satisfied. We will email you via www.edjoin.org to advise you if you may participate in the written and / or performance exam. All candidates will be required to provide a photo ID with their signature. Face coverings are highly recommended but not required.
If you pass the written and / or performance exam, you may be scheduled to participate in the Oral / Technical Exam. Candidates must pass each portion of the exam in order to proceed in the recruitment and be placed on the eligibility list.
The eligibility list for this recruitment will be valid for six months.
Written Exam : OVSD tests on Wednesdays. Once you have applied, it has been determined that your application is complete, and you have met the minimum qualifications, you will receive an invitation to test via email with the date of the exam.
