The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is responsible for providing high-quality patient care and services to patients in the psychiatric unit of Meridell. The LVN will work under the supervision of the Director of Nursing and a Registered Nurse (RN) and will be responsible for administering medication, implementing patient treatment plans, evaluating patient response to treatment, and providing healthcare education to patients and families. The LVN will also be responsible for supervising Mental Health Techs and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients.

Your Impact:

  • Uses verbal de-escalation techniques to calm patients and respond effectively to escalating situations.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and engaging environment for patients, ensuring they participate in programming.
  • Participates in unit decisions, provides feedback, and coaches new employees. Volunteers for special projects and is a positive role model.
  • Accurately and timely documents patient information, following charting standards and treatment plan goals.
  • Effectively communicates with patients, families, and staff members.
  • Stays aware of individual patient issues, including safety plans, triggers, and goals.
  • Familiar with unit routine, ISP, level system, neurobehavioral principles, and Activities of Daily Living (ADL's).
  • Maintains healthy boundaries with patients and provides emotional support.
  • Welcomes new employees, mentors others, and volunteers to be a mentor.

What You'll Bring:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Prior clinical experience and recent psychiatric nursing experience is preferred
  • Current LVN licensure in the State of Texas
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to present information and ideas essential to nursing duties
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships interdepartmentally, intradepartmentally, and with medical staff
