Commercial Loan Review Specialist

Position Overview:
Meridian Capital is seeking experienced professionals with a strong background in post-closing commercial loan review to join our Risk Management Department. This role involves performing comprehensive loan file reviews, ensuring that brokers comply with the company’s underwriting policies and procedures. As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance loan quality, this position offers the opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of new initiatives aimed at maintaining high standards for loans presented to our lending partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth reviews of borrower-prepared financial documents and other essential underwriting and due diligence materials as required by lenders
- Document each loan review thoroughly and prepare detailed summary reports for the Risk Management Committee
- Assign appropriate risk ratings to loans based on review findings and outcomes
- Collaborate on enhancing the loan review process, refining risk rating systems, and monitoring remediation efforts
- Assist with special projects and targeted reviews as needed
Qualifications & Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial mortgage loan review, underwriting, regulatory examiner or auditing
- Strong knowledge of underwriting standards across various asset classes, including commercial, industrial, retail, construction, multifamily, and health care lending
- Experience as a commercial mortgage bank examiner is a plus
- Familiarity with agency and regulatory guidelines
- Technical expertise in loan review processes, particularly in working with brokers and underwriters
- Deep understanding of commercial lending and underwriting practices
Skills & Competencies:
- Exceptional attention to detail and thorough record-keeping abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with brokers and underwriters
- Proficiency in navigating systems such as Salesforce
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Additional Information:
Base salary for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, and geographic location. The expected base salary for the role will generally be between $95,000 and $120,000 per year at the commencement of employment, plus a discretionary bonus. However, the final salary offered may be outside this range based on these factors and individual circumstances.
