Licensed Behavioral Health Therapist

SUMMARY:

 
Whitefoord is seeking a Licensed Behavioral Health Therapist to work primarily with an adult population, one day per week. The Licensed Behavioral Health Therapist will be a licensed care provider, highly skilled in the assessment and management of patients with co-occurring disorders. She/he will conduct mental status exams; complete intake assessments; formulate diagnoses; and coordinate patient care between Behavioral Health and Primary Care. Initiates consults, referrals, and brief psychotherapy as indicated; and maintains effective and up to date documentation of patient encounters. The Consultant provides professional care in a manner consistent with Whitefoord’s philosophy of care and is responsible for helping people with mental illness achieve their greatest level of self-sufficiency. Prefer candidates with excellent interpersonal and clinical skills for providing primary mental health care to adults. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1) Complete assessment tools and create individualized service recovery plans for adults/youth participating in non-intensive outpatient services. 2) Diagnose and treat mental health disorders. 3) Diagnose and treat substance use disorders focusing on the treatment, prevention, and awareness of opioid abuse. 4) Diagnose and treat co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. 5) Use evidence-based tools and other standards of care (e.g., Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT). 6) Empower patients with mental health and substance use disorders to make informed decisions about their care, including pain management alternatives, treatment options, and recovery through peer counselling, patient education, or other evidence-based strategies. 7) Enhance education for patients, families, communities, and personnel to support patient engagement and self-management that includes medical conditions that often co-occur with mental health and substance use disorders. 8) Expand evidence-based mental health and substance abuse prevention and education programs for patients, families, communities, and personnel to increase awareness of, patient access to, and patient retention in mental health and substance use disorder treatment programs. 9) Write progress notes, track outcomes, and develop reports 10) Coordinate patient care with clinical team of providers to improve support systems resource and linkage to community referral sources. 11) Contribute to the development of Behavioral Health programming and initiatives within the organization. Assist leadership with evaluating current efforts and strategizing the use of evidence based practices to address the behavioral health needs of consumers.


Behavioral Health Specialist’s Core Responsibilities:

 • Diagnostic evaluations and assessments • Use evidence-based treatment approaches • Treatment consultation to the primary care team • Collaborate with other providers as needed (hospitals and clinics) to ensure continuity of care • Work in collaboration with other provider agencies to help break the cycle of institutional dependence and promote successful community living • Meet weekly with Behavioral Health Director and give feedback on progress toward patient goals. • Participation in monthly team meetings with other providers on shared cases to ensure coordination of services. • Attend administrative meetings as required • Prepare monthly reports


QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

 
• Licensed in the state of Georgia as a Clinical Social Worker or Clinical Psychologist • Certified Addiction Counselor - MAC, CAC (II, I), CADC, CCADC, or GCADC (II, III), a plus • Patient focused with superior interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal • Minimum of 3 years prior relevant mental health and substance abuse experience • Demonstrated understanding of the clinical application of the principles of engagement, empowerment, rehabilitation and recovery. • Experience working with community based programs/safety nets and resources designed to aid the State Medicaid population. • Experience working in an integrated care environment preferred. • Ability to work within a team environment and collaborate with other members of BH team • Computer literate and experience using EHR’s preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

 Must possess above average command of speaking and writing skills.   

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Basic math is required to calculate statistical data and manage personal billing account.


REASONING ABILITY:

Must be able to exercise sound judgment and concrete thinking when on the spot decision making is required. Ability to seek supervision for emergency and unusual circumstances. Must be able to participate in regularly scheduled meetings
