Key Responsibilities
The Respiratory Therapist will perform diagnostic cardiopulmonary evaluations and therapy treatments to care for patients with cardiopulmonary system deficiencies and dysfunctions.
- Conduct cardiopulmonary diagnostic tests to aid in diagnosis and treatment of patients.
- Administer clinical care, including aerosol medications, breathing exercises, and psychosocial assessment/management.
- Educate patients on disease prevention, cardiopulmonary health, and medication compliance.
- Document accurate and complete clinical information in patient medical records and billing documents.
- Communicate patient assessments and updates with healthcare teams and referring physicians.
Requirements
To be successful, you must:
- Hold an Associate of Science or Bachelor of Science degree from a COARC-approved program in respiratory care or an approved Nursing program.
- Be licensed to practice respiratory therapy or nursing by the state board of professional regulation.
- Maintain national certification as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or registration as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the NBRC, or registration as a Registered Nurse (RN).
