Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood sampling with precision and care.
- Collect, label, and process specimens according to established protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of patient information and specimen collection.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and infection control procedures.
- Provide exceptional patient service by explaining procedures to patients and addressing any concerns.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions during and after blood collection.
- Assist in the training of new staff or interns on phlebotomy techniques and laboratory procedures.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure efficient workflow within the laboratory.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in laboratory procedures, specifically venipuncture and specimen collection processing.
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and vital signs.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages.
- Familiarity with hospital environments and the ability to work under pressure.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential for maintaining accurate records.
- Certification as a Phlebotomist is preferred but not mandatory; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of certification.
