What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing and Public Relations Intern position at Meridian Township?
Meridian Township is currently looking for a Marketing and Public Relations Intern for the summer 2025 semester. The summer 2025 internship will run from May 12, 2025 to August 15, 2025. If you would like to apply for future semesters, you can still apply and select which semester you would prefer.
Meridian Township's Communications Department oversees the Township's print and digital communications, including nineteen social media accounts, two e-newsletters, magazine publications, websites, and more. Meridian Township's Marketing & Public Relations Internship Program offers an intensive semester based, hands-on, paid training program.
Under the direct supervisor of the Communications Manager and Marketing and Public Relations Specialist, interns will manage several social media accounts, create content, design print materials, and manage other Township materials (as approved by Communications Department staff) through hands-on training and workshops. An internship at Meridian Township is the start to a career in marketing and communications. Interns will also receive one-on-one mentoring and critiques for their work.
The goals of the internship program are to provide quality, timely information to community members in Meridian Township as well as provide the opportunity for those wishing to begin careers in communications to learn basic skills and techniques.
Essential Job Functions :
- Creates multimedia content as assigned (writes, edits, and designs) for Meridian Township's website and social media platforms in alignment with the Township's brand standards. Types of content may include graphical elements, social media postings / campaigns, online articles, print materials (brochures, magazine pages), and email campaigns.
- Publishes created content to Meridian Township's communication outlets.
- Stays up-to-date in happenings relevant to Meridian Township as well as trends in marketing and social media.
- Utilizes software through hands-on training and exams.
- Performs other related work as required.
