What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education RBT Aide position at Meridian World School LLC?
Instructional Support:
Assist students with daily classroom activities and lessons, providing redirection as needed; lead small groups; inform Behavior Specialist/classroom teacher of students’ progress.
Assist in teaching students functional replacement skills for challenging behaviors as directed by the Behavior Specialist.
Support and participate in meeting the objectives of the campus/department plan.
Student Support:
Use of de-escalation procedures as needed.
Use of restraint procedures as needed.
Assist in implementation of student behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals.
Assist in implementation of response to intervention (RTI) programming.
Assist in implementation of social skills goals in small groups.
Assist in managing student behavior in the classroom and common campus areas in accordance with response to intervention (RTI), school-wide positive behavior support protocols, Student Code of Conduct, and student handbook.
Support of Administrative, Fiscal and/or Facilities Functions:
Collect data as directed and trained by the Behavior Specialist to monitor student progress.
Assist Behavior Specialist with preparation of materials and displays; ensure specific materials and supplies are ready; maintain safe instructional/support areas; perform clerical duties and assist with operation of equipment.
Provide assistance to other campuses/departments as requested.
Professional Growth and Development:
Participate in professional development that increases effectiveness and improves District performance.
Obtain SAMA de-escalation training.
Complete IA certification through Region 13.
Academic Excellence Indicators and Campus Performance Objectives:
Support the administration of state-mandated testing at campuses in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
School/Community Relations:
Interact positively with employees and the community to provide needed information and to promote the District in a favorable manner.
Organization Morale:
Participate in team building activities and the decision-making process as appropriate.
Other Responsibilities:
Comply with policies established by federal and state law, including but not limited to State Board of Education and local Board policy.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Behavior Specialist or campus principal.
Special Knowledge/Skills
Skill in coping with a variety of students with emotional and behavioral needs in stressful situations.
Knowledge of techniques used in assisting students with special needs.
Skill in applying general classroom/student discipline management.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Skill in operating standard computer and software applications.
Knowledge of District, campus, and classroom policies and procedures.
