Company Overview

Meridian Adhesives Group is a rapidly growing, full service global adhesive solutions provider, specializing in adhesive technologies used in electronics, industrial, and infrastructure applications. Fueled by a series of strategic acquisitions since its formation in 2018, we have established ourselves as an adhesive technology leader for a broad, global, blue-chip customer base comprised of OEMs, distributors, and industrial clients with an expanding global footprint.

Primary Function

The Materials & Logistics Manager ensures the seamless, timely, and accurate movement of raw materials (RM), finished goods (FG), and packaging supplies across all locations to support manufacturing operations and meet customer demands. This role oversees warehouse operations, third-party logistics (3PL) partnerships, and inventory accuracy within the company’s ERP system, driving supply chain efficiency, cost optimization, and compliance with safety regulations. The Materials & Logistics Manager leads inventory management functions, monitors key performance indicators (KPIs), and collaborates with Scheduling, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Sales, and Logistics teams to maintain operational continuity.

Key Responsibilities:

Warehouse & Inventory Management

  • Oversee the proper storage, handling, and distribution of materials (e.g., resins, solvents, adhesives, packaging) in warehouses and production facilities, ensuring optimal space utilization.
  • Manage and reconcile inventory across internal ERP and 3PL warehouse management systems (WMS), maintaining accuracy levels of 98% or higher through regular cycle counts and audits.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies at all locations, implementing root cause analysis and corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Coordinate daily transfers of raw materials for production, batching, and packaging, based on input from the Operations team.
  • Oversee the replenishment of packing and packaging supplies, ensuring availability without overstocking.
  • Manage the return, disposition, or disposal of expired, obsolete, or defective materials, including customer returns, in compliance with company and regulatory standards.

Logistics & 3PL Oversight

  • Monitor 3PL performance against Service Level Agreements (SLAs), ensuring on-time pickups and deliveries (target: 95% ) while optimizing freight costs through Transportation Management System (TMS) tools.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of shipments, stock transfers, and customer invoicing, with 3PL invoices submitted within 24 hours of shipment.
  • Verify that all shipping documentation (e.g., bills of lading, hazmat certifications) accompanies shipments and meets customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve shipping errors across all locations, collaborating with 3PLs, vendors, and internal teams as needed.

Supply Chain Continuity

  • Maintain balanced inventory levels to prevent stockouts (target: <2%) while minimizing carrying costs, particularly for time-sensitive adhesive components.
  • Collaborate with the Sales team to establish and adjust order points for finished goods at 3PL locations, aligning with demand forecasts.
  • Forecast material needs in coordination with Purchasing and Scheduling to ensure uninterrupted production.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all material handling complies with safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, hazmat standards) and company policies, coordinating with Regulatory and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) teams as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of received goods, rejecting unsatisfactory items and resolving discrepancies with invoices, packing slips, and shipping reports.

Performance & Process Improvement

  • Establish and track warehouse KPIs (e.g., inventory turnover, order picking accuracy, stockout rates) to drive continuous improvement and meet operational goals.
  • Implement or refine site policies and procedures for material storage, handling, and logistics to enhance efficiency and safety.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for inventory and logistics-related issues, escalating complex matters to management when necessary.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Act as a backup resource for the Shipping department during staffing shortages, overseeing coordination and documentation as needed.
  • Support general business functions of the facility and perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills & Abilities

  • Exceptional organizational skills with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership and team collaboration skills to oversee warehouse staff, coordinate with 3PLs, and engage with cross-functional departments.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for vendor negotiations, team directives, and stakeholder updates.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities to interpret data, optimize processes, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Proficiency in ERP, TMS, and WMS systems to ensure data integrity and streamline operations.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting production demands and supply chain disruptions with a proactive, self-starting mindset.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business, or a related field, or 5 or more years of equivalent professional experience.
  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in materials management, logistics, or warehousing, preferably in a manufacturing environment (adhesives or chemicals a plus).
  • Managing 3PL relationships preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with ERP, TMS, and WMS systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) required.
  • Knowledge of international shipping procedures and hazardous materials handling strongly preferred.
  • Certifications such as APICS CPIM, CSCP, or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) are a plus.
  • Ability to travel 20% to existing and new facilities.
  • Strong math skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) for reporting and analysis.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms for extended periods during warehouse oversight.
