Project Manager

Position Description:
The Project Manager is responsible for managing the relationship with the customer, vendors, contractors, and all stakeholders, and will work with a cross-functional team to oversee and successfully execute projects. They will be accountable for project schedules, procurement, cost management, design submittals, deliveries, and customer interface. The Project Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the overall success of the business. The Project Manager will report to the Manager of Project Management Office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in project coordination including project budgets, schedules, and bill of materials.
- Contribute to risk management to assist in mitigation of potential project-related issues.
- Oversee and manage internal and external deliverables to ensure timely and budgeted project completion.
- Support procurement processes and monitor the delivery of project equipment and materials.
- Adhere to compliance with project safety standards and regulations.
- Assist in implementing basic project controls and analytical processes to forecast, analyze, and influence project timelines and costs.
- Utilize critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills to effectively manage day-to-day project workflow.
- Establish and maintain regular communication and thorough documentation internally and externally, ensuring compliance with contracts and schedules.
- Track and report key project metrics to internal stakeholders and customers
- Participate in and lead meetings with customers, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Enforce quality control and assurance measures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead lessons-learned and root cause analysis efforts
- Oversee project closeout processes.
- Collaborate with the project team to conduct analysis, develop appraisals and recommendations, and prepare presentations and supporting documentation.
- Identify opportunities for enhancing project deliverables and work processes.
- Adhere to quality management processes in accordance with Merit Controls' ISO 9001 certification.
- Demonstrate expertise in project management methodologies and tools.
- Lead complex projects with multiple interdependencies and cross-functional teams.
- Develop and refine project management templates, guidelines, and documentation.
- Facilitate regular status updates and progress reviews with project sponsors and stakeholders.
- Implement effective project communication strategies to ensure transparency and alignment.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and continuous improvement.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior project managers.
- Support basic technical questions and issues on projects, internally and externally.
- Comprehensive support to the Merit technical team by supporting their needs and requirements.
- Assist the business development team with presentations, analysis, and reports.
Preferred Position Requirements:
Experience:
- 5 years of project management experience with demonstrated experience of project management principles and practices.
- Proven track record of managing complex projects, meeting deadlines and staying withing budgetary constraints.
- Experience working within renewable energy including industrial or utility scale PV solar, BESS or Wind is preferred.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or related field; Master’s degree a plus.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent preferred
