Job Summary
The Dialysis Technician is responsible for direct patient care. Direct patient care includes performance of basic hemodialysis techniques and procedures, daily patient care and observations under the direct supervision and guidance of a registered nurse. The Dialysis Tech participates in quality improvement activities to maintain patient care standards.
Essential Functions
- Obtains patients’ post dialysis vital signs and weights.
- Working in tandem with nurses and doctors.
- Actively promote safety for patients, families, visitors and co-workers.
- Responsible for basic water testing related tasks.
- Responds to emergency situations with appropriate treatment as directed by the RN.
- Safeguards surgical specimens by preparing, caring for, and routing to laboratory.
- Monitoring and adjusting patient fluid removal rates as required.
- Identifies and participates in quality improvement process.
- Daily water testing, completion of equipment quality control checks, machine logs, machine disinfection per policy.
- Ensuring the usage of the dialysis machine is safe and secure.
- Monitors patient for adverse reactions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or GED preferred
- 0-1 years One year of experience in a health care setting preferred

Licenses and Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- CCHT - Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician by NNCC, BONENT, NNCO or state specific certification is required at start date of position. required
