Position Overview:
The Designer & Purchaser will be responsible for guiding clients through the design selection process while also managing product procurement for custom remodel projects. This role is a critical bridge between creative design and precise execution, requiring an eye for aesthetics, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage details from concept to delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with clients to select finishes, fixtures, cabinetry, hardware, flooring, and other design elements
- Create and maintain mood boards, finish schedules, and product selections for each project
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to place, track, and manage orders
- Ensure all selections are aligned with project timelines, budgets, and overall design vision
- Communicate effectively with project managers, installers, and trade partners regarding product specifications and lead times
- Visit job sites as needed to confirm details, take measurements, or resolve design-related questions
- Maintain and update design and purchasing documentation for each project
Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in interior design, purchasing, or a related field (experience in residential remodeling preferred)
- Strong understanding of kitchen and bath design principles, space planning, and material selection
- Excellent eye for detail, color coordination, and design aesthetics
- Familiarity with purchasing workflows, vendor communication, and material lead times
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Professional communication skills and a client-focused mindset
- Experience with 2020 Design or Chief Architect is a must
