Meritage Hospitality Group is seeking a Claims Specialist to join the team!
What You’ll Do:
The Claims Specialist is responsible for a variety of Risk Management and Claims duties, including but not limited to Property and Casualty claims handling and various administrative tasks for the Risk and Legal department.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties:
· Responsible for full-cycle handling of all commercial Property, General Liability, Auto, and Crime incidents and claims, including assisting with root cause analysis and trend monitoring.
· Submit and coordinate with broker, third-party administrator (TPA), in-house and external legal counsel, Operations team, and various vendors and third parties to ensure proper investigation, evaluation, and management of Property and Casualty claims.
· Work with claimants and/or their legal representatives to interview and gather statements from all incident/claim parties and witnesses to assist with determination of liability and to reach fair and reasonable settlements as appropriate.
· Maintain detailed records within Company’s RMIS system of all investigations, communications, and decisions related to each claim.
· Promptly submit claims to TPA, update insurance carriers, and assist with settlement determinations.
· Ensure settlement and claim-related payments are made accurately, timely, and in accordance with all applicable terms.
· Support reported Employee incidents as assigned.
· Participate in routine claim review and round table discussions with TPA, Risk team, and management.
· Support camera footage requests for the Risk and Operations Team.
· Support fraud and loss prevention investigations with system tools and software (i.e., Restaurant Guard Loss) as assigned.
· Support security camera system configuration, implementation, and training.
· Performs other duties as assigned.

· A minimum of 2 years’ claims handling experience is required
· Ability to demonstrate initiative by being pro-active and prepared
· Ability to demonstrate sound decision making within the scope of claims assignment duties
· Ability to demonstrate managing multiple tasks by meeting deadlines and prioritizing workload
· Ability to demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills at all levels within and outside of the organization
· Ability to maintain and safeguard confidential and sensitive information
· Ability to demonstrate clear documentation
· Ability to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office, RMIS Systems, and other related business software, tools and basic office equipment
· Ability to demonstrate effective cross-functional team collaboration
· Ability to analyze data and facts to formulate guidance related to incident, loss, and/or injury claim
· Knowledge of basic insurance claim submissions, industry regulations, and trends
