Overview:
The basic function of the assembly production technician in the assembly organization is to perform the necessary tasks involved in the process of assembling components required to manufacture single and tandem front/rear heavy duty drive axles.
Job Responsibilities:
- Use precision measuring instruments such as torque wrenches, calipers, dial indicators, and micrometers to determine adherence of product characteristics to prescribed specifications.
- Ensure operation of machinery is performed in accordance with established procedures, for the safety of the individual, and all employees.
- Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process, and quality systems.
- Identify and record any product, process, and quality system problems.
- Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.
- Verify the implementation of solutions.
- Control further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected as defined by applicable procedures and/or delegation of the area manufacturing manager.
- Perform rework and repair operations on nonconforming material.
- Perform safety and housekeeping duties to ensure a safe working environment.
- Participate actively in the team to achieve team goals.
- Serve as facility functional support as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
- Read, comprehend, and execute written instructions in order to position, pre-assemble and stage components as required for assembly; to determine the dimensional characteristics of the product being produced and control the process as prescribed by the control plan.
- Operate a fork truck safely if performing material handling duties.
- Be able to operate and adjust manufacturing equipment including making fixture and tooling changes
- Good oral and written communication skills required, with the demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills
- Basic computer skills
- Must understand and be able to use basic math, fractions, basic algebra, decimals, and metrics.
- Must be able to read, comprehend, interpret and apply Manufacturing Instruction Guides.
- Must be flexible and be able to work in a team environment.
- Must comply will all Environmental Management Systems (EMS) Policies and Procedures
