The Quality Supervisor’s primary responsibilities include overseeing the organization’s quality functions and ensuring procedure adherence. This role also ensures that all products and processes consistently meet company standards. The Quality Supervisor will identify non-conformities and ensure they are root caused, communicated, and corrected. This role will ensure process integrity which in turn minimizes company risk and maximizes customer satisfaction.


This is a full-time position based out of our Fort Myers, FL, Corporate HQ.  Salary commensurate with experience.  Candidates should have a minimum of 5 recent years of Quality experience in a leadership role for a manufacturing or distribution organization. Experience with FDA and/or ISO (13485) is required. A college degree in Quality, Engineering, or a related field is not required but it is a plus.  Ideal candidates will have experience with battery operated vehicles or mobility equipment, and experience with domestic and international vendors.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead, motivate, train, monitor, and coach assigned team members.
  • Review, verify, edit, and/or approve team member performance and time management (i.e., annual reviews, timecard review, and PTO requests).
  • Ensure Quality checks are effective, defined, and statically placed within the process.
  • Prepare daily/monthly reports on Quality status. Collaborate cross functionally to identify and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate cross functionally to develop, maintain, and distribute training information to team members.
  • Collaborate with Safety Team to implement, investigate, follow up, and improve safety processes and procedures.
  • Oversea the CAPA and internal audit processes.
  • Effectively communicate issues, improvements, and best practices throughout Merit's multiple sites.
  • Maintain OSHA Safety guidelines and other regulatory Federal, State, and/or local standards as applicable.
  • Develop, oversee, analyze/review and approve processes and procedures to ensure quality activities and initiatives.
  • Oversee data collection, analysis, and other research for quality projects and identify and recommend paths to improvement.
  • Identify and implement effective solutions that will continuously enhance the services to ensure maximum customer experience on all levels.
  • Conducts or assists with performance and failure analysis of defective products or materials; identifies, recommends, or executes corrective actions.
  • Provides quality support for in-progress and final acceptance projects.
  • Provides technical and administrative support and guidance to direct and indirect reports.
  • Draft and maintain product assurance policies and procedures, ensuring specifications and requirements are met.
  • Analyzes, reviews, and approves manufacturing policies, processes, documentation, and operations.
  • Stay abreast with product and FDA industry trends and compliance standards
  • Follow and drive company safety protocols.
  • Business-related travel as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must abide by and drive Company safety policies and participate in Safety Training
  • Must be very detailed oriented and organizational skills are needed to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must have solid time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Must have Quality experience in production and/or manufacturing, especially working with assembly line processes.
  • Must have very strong analytical, problem-solving skills in order to review systems, find flaws, and pose solutions and improvements.
  • Must have recent experience and skills with ERP systems (such as Epicor, NetSuite, or similar), or must have the ability to learn within a reasonably fast period after position acceptance.
  • Must have very strong proficiencies with MS Office applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, SharePoint).
  • Must have recent supervisory or management experience and skills.
  • Must have excellent decision-making skills are needed and must have the ability to collaborate with professional and friendly mannerisms.
  • Must be able to lead, motivate, manage, and mentor a diverse team.
  • Must have the ability to consistently and effectively present information and respond in a timely manner to high email/message volume, to questions or inquiries from other employees, managers, vendors, and the public if needed.
  • Must have the ability to successfully meet deadlines and prioritize workload for self and teams.
  • Must be dependable with an excellent attendance record.
  • Must speak, read, and write English and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have a valid US Driver’s license in good standing and must maintain throughout employment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

 

Educational Requirements: A college degree is preferred with five (5) recent years of related Quality experience and a minimum of two (2) years of leadership experience; or an equivalent combination of education, professional certifications/training, Quality experience, leadership/supervisory experience, and/or related industry experience. 

Certifications preferred and recognized: Lean, Six Sigma, TPS, CMQ/QE, cGMP, or other related/similar credentials.


Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb/climb ladders, or balance; use of hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is required to safely lift or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
