What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisor of Health Information Management (HIM) Operations position at Meritus Health?
The HIM Technical Operation Supervisor duties include planning, organizing, monitoring, trending and directing technical operational areas of Health Information Management, including Release of Information, Chart Completion, Deficiency Analysis, Scanning, Chart Correction, Death and Birth certificate registry. Also functions as the Chapter Leader for "Record of Care" sections within JCAHO standards. Coordinates forms management requests, oversees the Patient Amendment Requests with Privacy Officer, represents Meritus as the Custodian of the Record in all court cases that require appearance, acts as liaison with Release of Information Vendor, maintains and update HIM Polices and Procedure, and assists in HIM Capitol and Operational Budget completion. The HIM Technical Operations Supervisor is responsible for achieving goals and key performance indicators including Compliance with Death and Birth Certificate completion, Delinquent Medical Records, Release of information turnaround times, reducing average days outstanding physician queries and Scanning completion in timely manner.
Education - Associates or bachelor's degree in health information administration is preferred or equivalent experience.
Experience - Minimum 5 years experience in HIM Acute hospital operations. Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience. Minimum 2 years' experience with an Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Licensure/Certification - Registered Health information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Demonstrates strong knowledge of all HIM Operational processes. Ability to work effectively and interact with all levels of management including executive leadership and medical staff. Demonstrate proficiency in applicable hospital systems. Demonstrates subject matter expertise in confidentiality of Personal Health information (PHI), HIPPAA, and Release of Information (ROI) related regulations.
