Position Summary
Responsible for designing, developing, and implementing effective training programs that enhance employee performance and support our organizational goals. Develops and maintains new and existing training programs for employees at all levels. Produces training materials utilizing various training methodologies and theories. Works collaboratively with employees at all levels and delivers a high level of service in meeting the training and development needs of the organization. Ensures that employees are well-equipped to provide excellent member service and adapt to new products, services, and regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Curriculum and Content Design: Create comprehensive lesson plans, objectives, and instructional materials. Use multimedia tools like Canva and Camtasia to develop engaging content. Design and produce courses, curriculums, workshops, and presentations. Create content that utilizes a variety of delivery methods, including instructor-led classroom sessions, eLearning, self-paced learning, and web- and computer-based training.
- Research and Collaboration: Develop training programs aligned with the credit union’s strategic initiatives. Conduct needs assessments by collaborating with department heads and subject matter experts to identify training needs and performance gaps. Work with subject matter experts and trainers to develop course content to meeting those needs. Partner with internal and external experts to leverage cutting-edge technology. Collaborate with trainers and training management to ensure managers and staff have the necessary tools to monitor training progress and processes.
- Training Systems Administrator: Knowledgebase (GP): Responsible for ensuring all content that is uploaded into the knowledgebase is accurate and up to date. Responsible for moderating the GP Q&A and ensuring that all questions get answered in a timely manner by either training or a subject matter expert (aka genius).
- BVS: Responsible for course creation and ensuring that the content is updated. Handles all annual assignments and curriculum development. Basic administration of the system including adding new hires and updating course assignments.
- Misc: Responsible for tracking all training hours completed and reporting monthly to Training Management.
- Impact on Member Service: This role is integral to ensuring that the credit union’s employees are well-equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide exceptional service to members. By developing and delivering high-quality training programs, the instructional designer will help employees stay informed about new products, services, and regulatory requirements. This, in turn, enhances the overall member experience, ensuring that members receive accurate information, efficient service, and personalized support.

Minimum Qualifications
- Three years to five years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
- Previous experience in the application of adult learning principles and methods, preferred.
- Experience in the financial institution industry a strong plus.
- A high school degree or equivalent
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills especially in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Experience using content editing software such as Canva and Camtasia a plus.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and manage numerous projects simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. The ability to work independently while being a genuine "team player". Excellent oral/written communication and strong interpersonal skills.

The Instructional Designer position is a Grade 9.
Target Range: $32.71 to $40.89*
*The target range for entry in a new position is between the minimum and midpoint of the range, depending on experience and qualifications.
