(Merjent) is seeking an Environmental Scientist/Geologist/Engineer to join a Contamination/Due Diligence Team to conduct Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and Phase II Investigations for energy infrastructure, transportation, and redevelopment projects. This position requires technical knowledge of environmental regulatory criteria for soil, groundwater, and soil vapor.
This is a full-time benefits eligible opportunity. The anticipated annual salary for this position is between $141,000 and $159,000 dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities
- Author technical reports, including Phase I ESAs, Phase II Drilling Investigation reports, Response Action Plans (RAPs), Construction Contingency Plans (CCPs), and construction monitoring reports.
- Oversee construction monitoring for transportation, redevelopment, and utility projects; including field screening, field reports, soil and groundwater sampling, impacted media management and documentation, and use of various field equipment (photoionization detector (PID), 4-gas meter, etc.).
- Prepare cost estimates and scopes of work to support proposal efforts.
- Support Merjent's Due Diligence team in business development and marketing efforts.
- Train and support junior staff employees in environmental field tasks and environmental reporting tasks.
- Manage Phase I ESAs and Phase II Investigations for transportation, redevelopment, and energy infrastructure projects.
- Manage and conduct desktop contamination reviews for energy infrastructure projects, including the development of Construction Contingency Plans/Health and Safety Plans.
- Solicit subcontractors, schedule and manage field activities involving staff and subcontractors.
- Work as part of a team to complete and review projects within scope, budget, and schedule.
- B.S. in Geology, Environmental Engineering, Earth Science, Environmental Chemistry, or closely related field.
- 10 years of professional environmental experience.
- Currently possess or ability to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) License.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain certification upon employment.
- Experience in environmental report generation including RAPs, CCPs, Phase I ESAs, and Phase II ESAs.
- Skilled in the operation and maintenance of field equipment, including PIDs and 4-gas meters.
- Environmental construction monitoring, including collection of GPS data points, soil and groundwater sampling, soil classification, field screening, and creation of daily field reports.
- Adept at reading and interpreting geological maps and databases.
- Initiative-taker with excellent organizational/task management skills.
- Highly adaptable with a strong ability to work well under pressure.
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision, and in the context of a larger team with other project managers.
- Ability to analyze, organize, and interpret data from multiple sources and translate that information into easily understandable written deliverables.
- Must be willing to conduct field work locally as needed (10%), depending on the needs of projects.
- Excellent oral communication and technical writing skills.
