We are seeking a Department Head of Special Education-PEL Type 75 to join our team full time. Ideal candidates should enjoy communicating with and supporting families through their IEP and nonpublic school placement process. They should be interested in assisting our teams in proper documentation and training requirements under ISBE, as well as, collaborating with our teams to ensure ISBE compliance.
Responsibilities
We are seeking a Department Head of Special Education-PEL Type 75 to join our team full time. Ideal candidates should enjoy communicating with and supporting families through their IEP and nonpublic school placement process. They should be interested in assisting our teams in proper documentation and training requirements under ISBE, as well as, collaborating with our teams to ensure ISBE compliance.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the enrollment of ISBE placed students and ensure that IEP minutes are appropriate for our program.
- Assist in the ongoing development, progress monitoring and revisions to student IEPs.
- Collaborate with school district representatives to ensure student IEP and school placement is appropriate.
- Collaborate with ISBE representative to ensure 401 compliance.
- Lead the annual ISBE audit process.
- Lead a small group of special education teachers in curriculum and IEP implementation.
- Implements Merlin Day Academy's curriculum and to theories of practice models supporting Merlin Day's therapeutic model.
- Participates in on-going collaboration with the client's team and family including weekly emails, phone calls and in person discussions.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with clients and families by providing parent education, home programs, and parent support as needed.
- Special Education Teacher, lBS-1 required
- PEL Type 75 endorsement required (will consider candidates in process of obtaining their endorsement)
- Masters degree preferred
- Experience working on IEP teams and school leadership experience preferred
