What you'll bring to the team The Rides Engineering & Water Quality Supervisor oversees the maintenance and safety of all waterpark attractions and rides across the resort. This hands-on leadership role ensures the mechanical, electrical, and water quality systems meet safety and compliance standards, supporting LEGOLAND, CHIMA Water Park, Surfers Cove, and resort pools.Key responsibilities include : Supervising and training the maintenance team.Managing water quality systems and troubleshooting.Maintaining chemical balances and ensuring compliance with ASTM, San Diego County, and safety guidelines.Scheduling, preventive maintenance, and inventory management.Supporting risk prevention efforts while fostering a positive, team-oriented environment.Essential Job Functions : Assists the Rides Manager in park maintenance scheduling and budgeting for theme park facilities, buildings, and attractions.Follows established maintenance program, including emergency repairs as required.Ensures compliance with maintenance, safety, and security procedures.Ensures that all maintenance employees follow LEGO-established employee policies.Writes requisitions for parts and materials for rides and attractions.Keeps tools, machines, and equipment in good working order.Prioritizes safety.Assists in preparing yearly budgets.Establishes long and short-range maintenance goals.Designs and expands a comprehensive training system.Stays informed of modern management techniques and technical methods.Keeps abreast of governmental, state, and local regulations.Conducts weekly staff meetings for directing, informing, training, and motivating maintenance MCs.Creates and maintains teamwork within the maintenance department.Accompanies maintenance technicians during ride inspections.Evaluates procedures and monitors MCs productivity.Reviews MCs skills in regard to job performance quarterly.Assists in scheduling major maintenance repairs.Reviews schedules of maintenance MCs with the Rides Manager.Qualifications & Experience Background and Experience : Minimum of five years maintenance experience in a mechanical field as a journeyman.Building maintenance experience and ability to read blueprints.Ability to react under pressure and in emergency situations.Thorough understanding of utilities, mechanical, and basic electrical maintenance requirements.Ability to delegate responsibilities clearly and maintain an open-door policy.Extensive knowledge in preventive maintenance systems.Ability to inspect and check work performed by others.Ability to read and evaluate reports and use basic math.Ability to maintain a friendly, polite demeanor.Ability to observe and remember details.Effective decision-making skills.Computer literacy.Knowledge of tools and equipment used to repair and maintain rides.Knowledge of water filtration and treatment practices.Experience in plumbing and PVC piping application.Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.Must pass a background check and have valid driver’s license.Water Quality Technicians must obtain AFO or CPO certificate within 6 months.NAARSO level 1 certified.OSHA Construction and General Industry Hazard recognition 30-hour training certified.Level 2 internal department Electrician certified.Education / Experience : High school diploma or equivalent required.AA Degree Preferred.Benefits A comprehensive benefits package, including a Merlin Magic Pass providing access to Merlin attractions globally and a 30% discount in our retail shops and restaurants.At Merlin, we strive to create an inclusive and diverse workplace where everyone feels valued.
