About the Role


This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced advancement professional to shape and lead a dynamic fundraising strategy within an innovative and growing educational institution. The Director of Advancement will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of philanthropy, expanding donor engagement, and ensuring the sustainability of key fundraising initiatives. Reporting directly to the Head of School, this individual will develop and execute a comprehensive advancement plan to support the School’s mission and long-term vision.


Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Head of School and the Board’s Advancement Committee to cultivate a culture of giving across the school community and beyond.
  • Identify, research, and cultivate relationships with current and prospective donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Oversee and maintain donor management systems, ensuring accurate and timely record-keeping in line with best practices.
  • Develop and execute strategic fundraising plans for the Annual Fund and Capital Campaigns, working closely with key stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Advancement Council (parent volunteers) to enhance engagement and support.
  • Partner with the Director of Marketing and Communications to create compelling fundraising materials and strategic communication plans.
  • Manage donor stewardship efforts, including grant reporting and recognition activities.
  • Analyze fundraising performance and provide detailed reports on progress and outcomes.
  • Plan and oversee key fundraising events, including a large-scale annual gala and additional donor engagement initiatives.
  • Attend school events and donor functions, including some evening and weekend commitments.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Head of School.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of five years of experience in a comprehensive advancement office, including annual giving, major gifts, and corporate and foundation grants.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement successful fundraising strategies.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience managing donor databases, with a preference for Raiser’s Edge.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills.
  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices, philanthropic research, and donor stewardship.
  • Experience in nonprofit, education, arts, healthcare, or social services sectors preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive donor information with discretion.

Work Environment & Benefits

  • Full-time, onsite position with flexibility for ad hoc remote work.
  • Competitive salary range: $140,000–$150,000 (depending on experience).
  • $10,000 relocation allowance available.
  • Reports to the Head of School and works collaboratively with Admissions and Communications teams.
  • Opportunity to lead advancement efforts within an innovative and forward-thinking school.
