Local Class A CDL Driver Needed for Environmental Hauling Company
Join a growing, family-owned environmental services business with 50 trucks in Florida. Merrell Bros., Inc., an Indiana-based company, has 40 years of 100% job completion. Beginning work in Florida 12 years ago, we are growing into the Florida market and need reliable drivers for our operations team. Merrell Bros. is seeking a Class A CDL Truck Driver with 3 years of experience. Utilize brand new trucks and trailers: Brand new Mack 2024 automatic Anthems with MAC 2024 framed half-round dump trailers. Totally local, 100% area work, with a predictable workload, reliable schedule, and flexible hours. All work is to be completed between Monday-Friday 6:00 AM-4:00 PM, and occasionally half day Saturday depending upon work flow. All work is to be completed when the County recycling center is open and operational. Familiar destinations and no over-nights. No touch freight. No labor loading or unloading is required. Transport loads from the City utility plant to the County recycling center. Operate PTO to unload trailer, and return trailer to utility plant.
Pay and Bonuses:
-Starting at $20.00 per hour: negotiable based on environmental trucking experience (walking floor, dump trailer, tanker work (preferred)
-Weekly direct deposit pay: $1,100 - 1,400 weekly depending upon chosen hours
-Flexible half-day Saturday hours: $50 bonus for running on Saturday
-Monthly performance bonus: ranging from $0-800 bonus per month.
-Annual safety bonus for all drivers who remain accident/ticket free: $2,000 bonus annually
-Attendance bonus can be paid out or used for 14 days off per year: $1,750 bonus annually
-Paid holidays $300, 3 non-working paid at $100 each: New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day; and 3 paid working holidays if running $300, 3 working days paid at $100 each: Labor Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July these Holidays only if operations are necessary that day, depends on workflow
-Over $8,000 in annual bonuses available

Job Description and Responsibilities:
Our Florida Division specializes in providing environmental waste hauling services for Cities and Counties throughout Florida. Recyclable plastic, cardboard material, sandy grit, water, leachate, municipal solid waste, and biosolids are all routinely hauled in our clean fleet of matching trucks. Our management team consists of all CDL holding managers who routinely drive and work side-by-side with all regional teams. Our management team has accomplished every project we perform and leads with fairness, honesty, and understanding.
We employ mobile mechanics equipped with every diagnostic and mechanic tool necessary to solve problems in the field. Additional spare tractors are available in the event we have a tractor down. Expectations related to the project:
- Inspect trucks and trailers daily for mechanical issues. Request repair if necessary
- Report issues and concerns to dispatch managers so equipment can be corrected
- Safely transport materials from two Ft. Myers utility plants to the County recycling facility
- Plan routes and avoid traffic delays, road hazards
- Operate PTO and additional dash controls to empty trailers, return trailers to the utility plant
- Perform work while maintaining DOT driving rules and regulations
- Keep yourself and your co-workers safe by performing alert and aware maneuvers
- Comply with company policies and procedures
- Maneuver trucks into City and County instructed loading or unloading zones/positions
- Create and complete single-page documents detailing load information (manifest)
- Report defects, accidents, or issues and brainstorm resolutions
- Proven work experience as a truck driver
- Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc.)
- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
- No recent moving or driving violations
- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.)
- Willing to submit to background/drug checks and provide employment recommendations
- Truck driving school diploma/certification a plus
- Valid commercial driving license
