Position Summary:
The Loan Processor is responsible for the gathering and review of supporting Applicant documentation during the underwriting process. The Loan Processor will work with the Loan Analyst, Dealerships/Financial Service Providers as well as Applicants to ensure proper and accurate documentation is received to support the rendered credit decision. The Loan Processor position will report to the Assistant Credit Manager. Supports the overall direction of financial activities of the Department as well as Merrick Bank Corporation (the “Bank”) by performing, or assisting in the performance of, the primary duties listed below.
Essential Functions:
- Reviews Applicant supplied verification items to ensure accurate information to support the requests for credit and work with Applicants to secure additional information when needed to assist in the underwriting process.
- Reviews and evaluates supporting approval documentation and communicates any errors and/or missing requirements to submitting Dealerships or Financial Service Providers.
- Works with Dealerships and/or Financial Service Providers to ensure proper documentation for requested verification items are completed.
- Assists in managing inbound/outbound communications related to the underwriting process.
- Assists in managing files related to credit requests, underwriting and funding documentation. May include assisting with inbound mail and/or returned mail to ensure proper follow up occurs in a timely manner.
- Works with establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with both external as well as internal stakeholders.
- Keeps abreast of developments in relevant state and federal regulations, systems and procedures and makes appropriate recommendations for improving efficiency and compliance
- Performs various other duties as assigned.

- Responsible for complying with all of the Bank’s internal control policies and procedures.
- Responsible for understanding and complying with all laws and regulations to which the Bank is subject.
- Responsible for communicating problems in operations, noncompliance with the code of conduct, noncompliance with laws and regulations, policy violations, or illegal acts.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent education is required.
- One (1) year work experience in a banking or similar related field is preferred.
Summary of Qualifications:
- Effective planning, organization, time management, and problem solving skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills as well as sound judgment.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure. Skill at handling a variety of assignments simultaneously. Flexibility, ability, and willingness to work at a rapid pace in strict time frames.
- Ability to process supporting loan documentation including manual calculations involved in determining monthly income from various financial documentation as well as collateral evaluations.
- Willingness to work in partnership with Dealerships, Financial Service Providers and other stakeholders to ensure a productive relationship.
Work Environment/Physical Demands: - Light
The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
