What are the responsibilities and job description for the Structural Steel Painter position at Merrill Steel, Inc.?
Position summary: Merrill Steel has an in-house 150,000 square foot climate-controlled paint shop allowing the painters to paint columns, trusses, I-beams and other structural steel surfaces using airless high-pressure paint guns. The types of paint applied include zinc, epoxy, and urethane. Projects also require complex coating systems such as corrosion resistant coatings and intumescent fire protection. Employees must be able to occasionally lift material weighing as much as 75lbs.

The next generation of ownership has become an ever-growing presence at the company. Our Plant Manager, Supervisors, and Leads meet with Human Resources on a weekly basis to talk about ways to improve our shop culture. We even have an Employee Relations Manager whose office is located out in the shop to easily assist employees.

Second shift operates from 3:30 pm – 3:00 am, Monday - Thursday, Fridays are voluntary. Second shift employees receive a night shift premium of $1.60/hour effective immediately. No weekends for either shift.
