Key Result Areas (KRAs): SAFETY – QUALITY – EFFICIENCY
Leadership and Accountability:
- Lead by Example: Collaborate with crew members, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and proper installation practices for water, storm sewer, fire main, and sanitary sewer systems.
- Accountability for Results: Be accountable for the quality of the work completed, ensuring all installations meet specifications and local regulations.
- Team Mentorship: Work alongside crew members to guide them in best practices, reinforcing skills and knowledge in the field.
Execution & Quality:
- Installation Oversight: Perform and oversee the installation of utilities, including water mains, fire mains, storm sewers, and sanitary sewers, ensuring alignment with plans and regulations.
- Trenching & Excavation: Safely excavate and prepare trenches using proper methods such as trench boxes to prevent accidents and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Material Management: Ensure that all materials such as pipes, fittings, and equipment are used efficiently and correctly, minimizing waste and rework.
- Quality Control: Inspect and verify that installations meet the highest quality standards before backfilling or moving on to the next phase of work.
Planning and Scheduling:
- Proactive Planning: Collaborate with foremen and superintendents to help manage the 3-5 day look-ahead schedule, ensuring the timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Adjustments in the Field: Adapt to adverse weather conditions and other site changes to keep the project moving efficiently.
Additional Duties:
- Decision-Making: Use sound judgment to troubleshoot and resolve issues on-site, escalating through the chain of command if necessary.
- Mentoring: Actively participate in the training and mentoring of new crew members, ensuring they are knowledgeable about safety and quality standards.
Physical Demands:
- Material Handling: Frequently lift, carry, and handle materials, equipment, and tools weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
- Standing and Walking: Endure prolonged periods of standing and walking on uneven surfaces at construction sites.
- Repetitive Motions: Regularly engage in repetitive motions related to trenching, pipe laying, and other construction tasks.
- Physical Strength: Utilize physical strength to push and pull heavy objects and materials during installations.
- Climbing and Balance: Occasionally climb ladders and scaffolding to access elevated work areas, maintaining balance and coordination to navigate the site safely.
Requirements:
- Experience: Proven track record in utility installation with a focus on water, fire main, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems in both residential and commercial projects.
- Safety Focused: Commitment to adhering to and promoting safety standards on all job sites.
- Dependability: Strong work ethic and reliable transportation to job sites.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks under various environmental conditions.
