Job Type: Full-Time
Merritt Paul Land Surveying is seeking a Geospatial Data Analyst with expertise in parcel mapping and editing to support railroad land management and infrastructure projects. This role involves maintaining and updating parcel data, ensuring alignment with ownership records, valuation maps, and deed information. The analyst will work closely with internal teams and external agencies to resolve land disputes, protect company assets, and support legal and operational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
· Research, edit, and maintain parcel network data for railroad land assets.
· Utilize ESRI ArcGIS Pro to perform parcel mapping, topology corrections, and geometric modifications.
· Identify and resolve boundary discrepancies to ensure accurate land records.
· Prepare and review surveys, plats, and legal descriptions for railroad property acquisitions and sales.
· Research public and corporate land records to determine ownership history and title sources.
· Collaborate with external agencies and engineering teams to resolve property-related issues.
· Create mapping exhibits for legal proceedings, provide expert testimony, and support the Law Department.
· Assist in analyzing and defending special assessments using GIS tools.
· Protect company interests in real property and operational right-of-way.
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Surveying, or a related field.
· Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Model Builder, and MicroStation.
· Strong experience with parcel mapping, land records research, and legal descriptions.
· Ability to read and interpret property plats, deeds, and valuation maps.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
· Excellent problem-solving, communication, and attention to detail.
