Merriweather Lakehouse, an upscale boutique hotel in Columbia is looking for a detail oriented individual to join our team.
Job Description : Supervises and directs the financial activities of the hotel and safeguards the hotel assets. Will be responsible for managing the day to day operations of the accounting department. Overseeing all activities relating to the financial aspects of our hotel in compliance with the Corporate Office policies and procedures and the local and state tax laws. Additionally, responsible for the financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audit and controls.

Knowledge / Training :
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Hotel Management
- Experience in hotel property preferred
- Expert in Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of Hotel Software or Property Management Systems like Delphi, OnQ, MICROS
- Excellent communication and negotiations skills
- Fluent in English, both oral and written
- Excellent financial / business decision making
- Should possess strong Financial knowledge
- Analytical and organization skills
Essential Tasks :
Responsible for the properties overall accounting and financial management requirementsActively participate in Executive Committee and staff meetingsEffective use of the Controller's ChecklistAggressively fulfill the accounts receivable management responsibilities to maximize receivable realizationsCoordinate the property's labor management systemPrepare for approval year end write offsReview all major banquet functions and group accounts for proper payments prior to arrivalApprove all major accounts for credit as defined by the corporate office SOPMaintain appropriate standards for 60-90 accounts. Conform to standards regarding the average collection periodUnderstanding of all pertinent leases, contracts, agreements, covenants, and restrictionsTo keep management and the corporate office informed of sales and profit attainment throughout the periodSupport and comply with Corporate SOPs and Financial and Accounting Practices, Procedures and PoliciesAssist other managers in analyzing statements, distributions, and other financial dataSkill in correcting deficiencies identified on Internal Audit reportWork with the General Manager and hotel team on the preparation and presentation of the annual operating budgetKnowledge of City, County, State sales tax laws and laws dealing with innkeepers, liquor, and laborResponsible for preparing and reviewing annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and operating resultsPrepare and submit management reports in a timely manner and also ensuring delivery deadlinesEffectively adhere to all corporate accounting policies and proceduresAble to assist proactively with cost control requirementsInform the General Manager and Corporate office of current and potential financial problemsComplete entries required by the Corporate office for preparation of the statementsAble to assist with revenue enhancement possibilitiesReview statements for inaccurate date and send corrections to the corporate officeAble to assist with profit improvement opportunities for our hotel's operationAble to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish the workAssist in the building of an efficient and professional team of employees within the Finance departmentEstablishes and maintains open, collaborative relationships with employeesProvides excellent leadership by differentiating top performers and fostering teamworkParticipates in the employee performance appraisal process, providing feedback as neededResponsible to support and liaise with the General Manager in meeting the strategic goals of the organization.Full benefit package offered to include; medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability, 401(k) with match and other voluntary benefits.
