Merrohawke Nature School provides Waldorf-inspired, nature-based learning in a 100% outdoor setting to 650 youth annually in a joyful, warm, and meaningful way on both land and sea. Our programs include a licensed summer camp and a licensed preschool program. Position Summary:
We are hiring seasonal early childhood staff for Summer 2025. (We may also have an open position for our school year staff starting in September, which could be a full-time position.) Our teachers' primary role is to assist in providing 100% outdoor programs to youth in a joyful, warm, and meaningful way. This requires active participation and understanding of Merrohawke’s Waldorf-inspired, nature-based curriculum to meet the children’s needs.
Through an authentic passion both for the outdoors and children, our teachers guide learning in nature, serve as positive role models, ensure the safety of all participants, support the physical and emotional needs of youth through the day, help set up and maintain equipment used in programming, and actively and positively contribute to daily planning and debriefing meetings.

Minimum Qualifications
- At least two years of experience in an early childhood setting, ideally outdoors
- Familiarity with Waldorf early childhood education, nature-based learning, or environmental education
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Demonstrated comfort in working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Certified or willingness to become certified in Wilderness First Aid & CPR
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience teaching in an outdoor, nature-based learning environment
- Mass. EEC Assistant Teacher or higher certification
- Commitment to joyful, hard work, and a positive attitude
- Excellent communication skills
- Commitment to storytelling, singing, playing musical instruments or the arts
