Summary of Responsibilities
We are seeking a Construction Scheduler who will be based in our Cincinnati office and be responsible for creating and collaboratively working with project teams on the schedules for our projects. This role is integral to keeping our construction projects on track, ensuring timely delivery, and managing risks associated with project timelines. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, detail-oriented, and team-focused individual with experience in construction scheduling and a passion for driving efficiency in a collaborative, employee-owned environment. This position will require travel periodically to our other markets in Nashville, Raleigh and Pittsburgh.
Essential Job Functions
- Lead the onboarding and training of employee-owners on scheduling software and principles.
- Collaboratively build comprehensive project schedules using industry-standard scheduling software (preferably Oracle Primavera Cloud) to ensure all projects are completed on time and within the budget provided.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and other key stakeholders to align on project timelines, milestones, and critical paths. Promote teamwork and shared accountability across all teams.
- Regularly track and report project progress against established schedules. Identify potential delays, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate on corrective actions to keep projects on track.
- Establish software reporting dashboards across all projects for use internally during project performance reviews.
- Prepare and present regular updates to internal and external stakeholders, including employee-owners, clients, and project teams. Maintain transparency and open communication on project timelines and milestones.
- Identify schedule-related risks and proactively develop mitigation strategies to safeguard project timelines. Ensure that potential delays or challenges are addressed in advance.
- Provide consultation to the project teams to assess changes in project scope or schedule and ensure proper documentation, communication, and coordination to minimize impact on the overall project timeline.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of scheduling processes and practices. Implement best practices and lessons learned to enhance overall project efficiency and effectiveness.
- Be a training aide and assist with developing new training for employee owners.
Position Requirements
- Possess creativity, independence, initiative, and high levels of integrity.
- Proven track record of high performance in prior work.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to use Microsoft Excel.
- Position to be located in Cincinnati, Ohio.
- Ability to travel to other company locations/properties.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7-10 years of experience in construction scheduling or project management, with a proven track record of managing complex construction schedules.
- Proficiency in scheduling software, preferably Oracle Primavera Cloud or similar tools. A solid understanding of construction processes, methods, and terminology.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on optimizing schedules and resource allocation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and government entities.
- Strong organizational skills with an acute attention to detail, ensuring schedules are accurate and actionable.
- Ability to foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and shared success across multiple teams.
Safety Hazard of the Job
Normal safety hazards associated with office work, and with occasional observational visits to construction sites.
Physical Demands
The moderate physical effort required to sit, bend, stoop, lift, walk and climb. Maximum unassisted lift is 25 lbs. Average lift is less than 10 lbs. Requires ability to use a keyboard and monitor. Also requires the ability to communicate verbally, both in person and on the telephone. May require some travel by car/truck.
Environmental Requirements
Moderate to extreme outdoor conditions. Above average noise levels. Protective equipment is required. Average inside office environment. Average office noise levels. No personal protective equipment is required. Ambient temperature is between 68F and 76F.
