Mesa seeks a Civil/Structural Engineer for full time work developing substation sites for Electrical Utilities. Duties will include coordinating with client and Mesa engineers, various engineering disciplines, local county and state regulatory bodies, and any other parties involved to produce the necessary drawing packages. The candidate will need to travel to the client's office, located in Richmond, VA, approximately 3 days a month and work directly with the customer. Therefore the candidate should have great interpersonal skills and business acumen. The candidate must be self-motivated and have a strong desire to produce error free quality work. Minimal travel and site walk-downs. Must have a willingness to work overtime when required.
Demonstrate leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, detail oriented and works well with others.
Possess strong interpersonal skills to build client relations and work effectively in a team environment.

Education/Experience/Licensure
- BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university
- 5 - 10 years’ experience
- Professional Engineer (PE), required
- Coordinating with client and Mesa engineers, various engineering disciplines, local county and state regulatory bodies, and any other parties involved to produce the necessary drawing packages.
- Design of various substation steel supports, foundations, site development plans, and other civil and structural tasks associated with substation design
- Work closely with project civil engineers and designers to coordinate the design and site customization of structural elements within an overall substation design.
- Perform structural reviews and written evaluations of existing foundations and steel structures during emergency equipment replacement evolutions (including foundation assessments for large power transformers, circuit breakers, capacitor banks, etc.,) with an emergency spare.
- Use STAAD.Pro and/or Risa3D to model and analyze various steel support structures and put together the necessary calculation packages
- Help develop the client's internal structural standards
