Mesa presently has an opportunity for a Substation Physical Designer. This role provides an excellent opportunity to excel with innovative ideas and creative problem solving. This unique position involves application of latest design software and techniques to develop state-of-the-art Power Substation design portfolios.
The successful candidate will work closely with design engineering as a valued member of the Substation Physical Design Team. In this role the successful candidate will gain and apply knowledge of latest power substation technology and operational practices. This knowledge will be applied to develop physical design solutions for the construction of power substations. The Substation Designer will collaborate with Designers and Engineers through all phases of the design process to produce high-quality, constructible design packages for unique projects. This individual will also contribute by advising, teaching, and mentoring less experienced design staff.
Please note the following requirements for applicant consideration:
- 4 years of experience in Substation Physical Design or related design field
- CAD Experience – AutoCAD and Substation Design Suite preferred
- Knowledge of common drafting principles
- Associate's degree or equivalent in applicable field relating to the electric utility.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).

- Ability to interpret written/documented specifications and apply them to engineering design.

Education/ Experience Level:
- Associate's degree in engineering or related field and demonstrated CAD experience is a minimal requirement.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience performing physical power substation design using design applications software
This opportunity is for a hybrid work environment (home and office) and requires residing in the St. Louis, MO or Edwardsville, IL area.
