Artist in Residence - Elementary Art

Date of Residency: August 2025 through May 2026

Pay: $15.50/hour

Location: Lincoln Orchard Mesa Elementary

Description: The artist in residence will work with all Kinder through 5th-grade students (2-3 classes at each level) once per week, teaching lessons based on Colorado Visual arts Standards and focused on art principles. The grade-level art lessons will enhance student creativity and exploration of art. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of art fundamentals, experience in teaching art to young students, and will be reliable and have a positive attitude.

• Instructional time: approx. 6 hours per week
• Planning time: approx. 1 hour per week
• $15.50 / hour (contractual position; no benefits provided)
• Artist will receive support through monthly learning community meetings with other school-based artists-in-residence (meeting time paid at an hourly rate)
• Artist selected will complete fingerprint background check and “new hire” paperwork
• Artist will work under the supervision of the school principal and the D51 Elementary Visual Arts Coordinator
