Under the supervision of the Director of Financial Services, perform work of a clerical nature and moderate-level governmental accounting and finance over the entire organization’s centralized and decentralized accounting and finance functions. General duties include maintaining, reconciling accounts, processing accounts payable, general journal entry, and billing for services.

Primarily process accounts payable transactions. Process the payment of invoices for goods and services purchased to ensure that bills are paid timely and accurately. Process purchase orders, service payment authorizations, and requests for petty cash. Authorize payments for employee cash advances.
Review purchase orders, service payment authorizations and petty cash submitted for accuracy and compliance with County policies.
Verify accuracy, existence, and proper coding and approval of supporting documentation for all account payable transactions.
Accurately enter transactions into accounting system. Accurately post debits, credits, transfers, and adjustments to general ledger.
Verify accuracy of checks to be printed. Prepare and mail/distribute checks or initiate ACH transactions.
Process and track documents to ensure the appropriate completion of transactions.
Create and maintain filing systems for accounts payable and cash disbursements files and other financial areas of responsibility.
Obtain and process W-9s from applicable vendors. Enter new vendor information. Ensure all applicable vendors have current W-9 on file. Update and purge vendor files as required.
Prepare and distribute 1099’s recipients and the IRS as required
Balance accounts and reconcile accounts to corresponding reports.
Respond timely to requests for information. Answer questions and assist citizens and other county employees concerning accounting and financial issues.
Research and implement best practices and procedures.
Foster cooperation, a healthy work environment, responsiveness to customers, and continuous improvement.
Oral and written communications are clear and effective.
Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual journal entries.
Completes monthly reporting of AP activity for advertisement.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education and Experience:
Two (2) years of college or technical school in accounts payable, bookkeeping, accounting or related area.
Three (3) years of related experience.
Licenses and Certifications:
AP Certification - desired
Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
This position requires standing, stooping, sitting, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
Work is generally confined to a standard office environment

Pay: $20.62 - $25.79 per hour
