JOB SUMMARY:
 
Provides intensive, complex and professional level case management services to assigned clients in a criminal justice program; interviews clients; completes state mandated assessments; analyzes data from assessments and uses them to develop a performance based case plan; monitors client’s progress; and prepares reports and documentation for case file, reports to referrals agencies and the courts.    May also be assigned a specialized caseload, including sexually violent offenders, domestic violence offenders, or those in a residential drug treatment program. Each of these specialized areas require that state mandated standards of supervision be followed.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Conducts client orientation and provides program overview; administers assessment tools and evaluates results; reviews case documentation; develops supervision plans and summaries. Identifies client victims or potential victims and develops written directives and orders that protects the community.
 
Performs supervisory functions in absence of Criminal Justice Program Manager.
 
Assess clients in their ability to obtain and maintain employment. Makes referrals to vocational rehabilitation programs, mental health services, medical services and/or other necessary outside referral assistance. Monitors clients compliance with services and medication monitoring.
 
Facilitates both individual and group education and counseling programs.  Identifies problems, explores problem-solving methods, performs crisis intervention and facilitates action plans with other agencies, often in emergency and crisis situations.
 
Monitors clients’ progress during outside activities in the community and documents findings. Investigates program violations and completes detailed reports.
 
Participates in clinical and administrative case staffings to evaluate offender treatment progress and needs. Makes critical written and verbal recommendations that aid in the clients progress or regression. Attends court hearings, responds to courts orders and motions and makes presentations to the Colorado State Parole Board.
 
Maintains case files, reports and documentation in compliance with Colorado Division of Criminal Justice and departmental policy.
 
Works closely and assists clients in financial planning; developing individual client short term and long term financial budgets after reviewing court orders for restitution and mandated child support payments.
 
Performs critical security functions to include: transporting clients to detention facilities, mental health stabilization facilities, processing and releasing clients from the facility, witnessing the taking of urinalysis samples, performing headcounts, conducting rounds, maintaining medication logs, performing client, searches.
 
Will perform home visits with program clients and their families, evaluating conditions of the homes and ensuring program regulations are followed. Performs visits with clients at their place of employment or other outside activities ensuring compliance. May respond to crisis or other emergencies in the field or coordinate such responses with law enforcement or human service agencies.
 
May interview clients in detention and prison facilities. Will research criminal histories, verify client
information, prepare written reports that detail critical recommendations to the courts, the district attorney, the probation department and defense attorney.
 
Will make regular use of a variety of criminal justice computer programs, including understanding operations of each, including the Department of Corrections, Court Systems and Case Management systems. Will interpret complex legal information and include such information in assessing court orders and risks to the community. Will use Global Positioning Systems for tracking purposes and monitor client compliance.
 
Oral and written communications must be clear and effective.
 
Performs other related duties as assigned.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Education and Experience: 

Must be 21 years of age and successfully pass a background check, including fingerprinting.   

Bachelor’s degree in emphasis in criminal justice, social sciences, human resources or a related field. 

OR 

Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.

Licenses and Certifications:  These may be attained after being hired 

State of Colorado Standardized Offender Assessments-(R) Certification

CPR/First Aid Certification

CPAI (Crisis Intervention) Certification

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
 
This position requires standing, stooping, sitting, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 60 pounds.
 
Occasional exposure of work time to hazardous situations which involve physically violent  persons, interviewing mentally or emotionally disturbed persons or bodily injury from biohazards, infections, or blood-borne pathogens.
 
Requires irregular hours and shifts including days, swings, graveyard shifts, weekends and holidays.
