JOB SUMMARY:
Performs various duties involving the set up, execution, and break down of special events and activities taking place at the Mesa County Fairgrounds. Activities are conducted indoors and outdoors, year-round, and may involve livestock. Performs routine maintenance and custodial tasks to buildings, grass/planted areas, arenas and stalls, restrooms, performance areas and parking lots, keeping all areas safe, clean and usable. Operates all sizes of equipment including, but not limited to, mechanized and non-mechanized hand tools, front-end loader, tractor, and bobcat.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Performs routine facility maintenance tasks including, but not limited to, room set-ups for meetings, janitorial services to floors, windows and restrooms, trash collection, snow removal, and lawn mowing.
Performs various outdoor maintenance functions in preparation for events and activities (e.g. moving arena panels, chutes, bleachers), repairs fencing and gates, and grooms horse arena.
Operates motorized maintenance vehicles such as dump truck, front-end loader, mower tractor, water truck, and bobcat.
Coordinates daily assignments with supervisor as facility rental needs and preventative maintenance schedules dictate, following established procedures.
Performs building repairs as needed. Work required may involve basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical that may include maintenance on commercial electrical systems including, but not limited to, service to breakers, GFI outlets, photocells, and interior/exterior lighting systems and operations. Troubleshoots common indoor/outdoor maintenance.
Supervises community service workers and/or inmates, third-party contractors engaged on the property.
Reads manuals, blueprints, or other drawings as necessary to determine work to be performed.
Performs basic administrative computer-related tasks including working in the Computerized Maintenance Management Systems software, and the Event Scheduling Software.
Oral and written communications must be clear and effective.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED and three (3) years of experience in a related trade or field.
Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.
Licenses and Certifications:
Forklift certification (can be obtained after hire)
Knowledge of the International Building Code
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
This position requires standing, stooping, sitting, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 100 pounds.
The employee is frequently exposed to dirt, smoke, fumes, extreme heat and cold for long duration, outside atmospheric conditions, and dust for sustained periods of time.
The employee is frequently exposed to loud noise.
Carries the Facilities cell phone and responds to emergency calls on a regular schedule and as required in emergencies.
