Job Summary:
The Director of Human Resources works collaboratively with administration and has oversight of various human resources management strategies, procedures and practices.
The starting date for this position is approximately July 1, 2024. The salary placement for this 12-month position is commensurate with experience and education.

- Develops and implements human resources management strategic plans
- Aligns strategic plans with the MPS’ Student Portrait of a Graduate
- Strives for continuous improvement by analyzing data, evaluating systems and timelines, and making necessary recommendations to enhance human resources procedures and strategies
- Facilitates the collaboration of various committees and other teams
- Supervisors, evaluates and provides guidance to assigned personnel
- Oversees the selection, hiring, transfer, onboard and orientation processes for district employee positions
- Interprets and administers the employee working conditions and benefits documents
- Collaborates and participates in goal setting and key performance indicators
- Builds positive and productive relationships with various stakeholders
- Participates with the Next Education Workforce (NEW@MPS) with the Arizona State University MLFTC
- Trains and advises supervisors and staff on various human resource policies, procedures, and practices
- Oversees the maintenance of personnel records, including the accuracy and integrity of the Human Resources Information Systems
- Oversees and/or provides guidance on staff discipline and performance evaluation procedures and best practices
- Establishes and maintains partnership with college / universities, businesses, and municipalities
- Leads the charge in helping to define and measure effectiveness of various human resource processes
- Participates in the district’s employee recruitment and retention efforts.
- Researches and remains current with federal and state laws and human resources management strategies
- Assists in the completion of surveys, table of organization, reports, and other statistical information
- Other tasks as assigned
To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, leadership, human resource management, or related field
- Administration or supervisory experience
It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.
Education:
- Master’s degree in education, leadership, human resource management, or related field
- Human Resource Management experience
- Public school or school district experience
- Understanding the MPS Portrait of a Graduate.
- Understanding of the Next Education Workforce (NEW@MPS).
- Engaging and fostering positive and productive relationships with various stakeholders.
- Making decisions based on analyzing various human resource management and other metrics.
- Facilitating groups of individuals in committee, negotiations and other collaborative teams.
- Interpretating and administering federal and state laws and district personnel policies and procedures.
- Understanding of employment compensation and benefit programs and best practices.
- Collaborating with employee organizations.
- Having effective skills in interpersonal relationships, communication, organization, leadership, decision making and problem solving.
- Understanding current employee recruitment and retention strategies.
- Researching and identifying new human resource management concepts and practices.
- Maximizing use of various Human Resources Information Systems (e.g. iVisions).
- Forecasting trends.
- Applying project management techniques.
- Evaluating programs and processes and seeking continuous improvement.
- Planning and implementing short- and long-range goals.
