What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director Laboratory Services position at Mesa View Regional Hospital?
The Director, Laboratory Services manages and sets policy for the operation of the Laboratory Departments. Proficiency in performance of procedures in all areas. Is responsible for the administration and supervision of designated patient care departments. Coordinates services with other departments, physicians, and the community to deliver the highest standard of care. Maintains the quality of services to meet stringent standards of care set by regulatory bodies.
Directs, establishes, and plans the overall policies and goals for a hospital's laboratory services. Works closely with hospital staff, department directors, and physicians to ensure the highest standards of quality and service are maintained. Writes and updates procedures and manuals as needed and reviews them annually to ensure that employees have current information needed to perform tests and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Leads and directs the work of others. Reports to top management.
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a biological or chemical science preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Must have at least five years experience in high complexity testing. Previous management/supervisory experience preferred.
- Must be a registered Medical Technologist, or equivalent; or be a MT ASCP with a specialty in one of the laboratory disciplines such as SBB, SH, SC, SM, or SI.
Experience
Preferred- Previous management/supervisory experience preferred.
- Must have at least five (5) years experience in high complexity testing.
Education
Required- High School or better
- Bachelors or better in Medical Technology or related field
Licenses & Certifications
Required- L-NV-Medical Technologist
- L-NV-Gen Supervisor
