Who we’re looking for :
Reporting to the Headmaster, the General Studies Principal will be responsible for overseeing curriculum design and development, recruitment, hiring, training, assignment, supervision, and evaluation of faculty. The General Studies Principal will liaise with parents, students and faculty, as needs arise, helping ensure a high-quality educational product in general studies. The General Studies Principal will assist with defining and enforcing policies and guidelines for students, staff, and faculty at the school and help oversee, manage and lead other duties as determined by the Headmaster.
The ideal candidate will possess appropriate leadership, educational, management and administrative skills and experience; will display determination, confidence, and strong decision-making abilities; and will serve as a role model, promote professional practices, and embody the values of the school.
Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to) :
- Ensure that delivery of curriculum in General Studies provides appropriate rigor and is consistent with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), which are the state standards for what students should know and be able to do.
- Through regular meetings with staff members, observation of classrooms, and review of relevant data, ensure that all teachers adhere to the curriculum, follow best practices of instruction, and display professionalism at all times.
- Ensure that Mesorah High School meets the requirements of nationally-recognized accrediting agencies, and supervise the accreditation renewal process.
- Establish a visible presence in the school, including in the classrooms and hallways.
- Handling day-to-day student, parent or teacher issues, related to General Studies, as they arise and communicating / problem-solving accordingly.
- Create a culture of constant improvement within a collaborative professional learning environment.
