ENGINEERING CARPENTER - CB & VR - FULL-TIME - VARIED SHIFT

STARTING RATE:   $30.00   MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT:  21 years old   LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:  Valid Driver’s License and DMV Driving History Printout (no more than 30 days old).   JOB SUMMARY:   Responsible for maintaining and repairing the existing appearance of property and fixtures, assisting with in-house remodels and working with outside contractors on larger projects for all Mesquite Gaming properties.   JOB QUALIFICATIONS:   Minimum three (3) years experience in general carpentry required.  Must be able to follow written and oral instructions. Must be able to read, write, and communicate verbally in English. Must be able to follow written and verbal directions and work independently.  Must have effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.  Must be able to read and understand blueprints.   ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:   Install, maintain, repair and laminate cabinets, perform routine maintenance and preventative maintenance activities.    Replace or repair with specific parts for individual problems.   Moving materials and equipment to specified locations throughout the properties.   Maintain an orderly schedule of preventive maintenance.   Completing paperwork, as necessary.   Follow specifications, blueprints, manuals and schematic drawings when necessary.   Strictly adhere to all departmental, company, and governmental rules, regulations and policies with specific attention to safety and environmental concerns.   Maintain a constant awareness of safety problems and report unsafe conditions and exposure of shift supervisor.   Other job-related duties as assigned and instructed by management.   CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPECTATIONS:   Take ownership and ‘It’s my job’ attitude.   Foster positive interactions and trust with internal and external customers.   Convey a positive and professional image to team members and guests.   Take pride in workmanship.   PHYSICAL DEMANDS:   The work requires physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; recurring lifting of moderately heavy items.  The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities such as above-average agility and dexterity. Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs.   WORK ENVIRONMENT:   Work in undesirable conditions including extreme heat (exceeding 120 degrees) cold, wind and rain. The work involves moderate risks or discomforts requiring special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, carts, or machines, or with irritant chemicals. Employees may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, glasses, hard hats, gloves and boots.Use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations and traffic signals.  The work environment involves exposure to secondhand smoke in a casino.  This is a 24 hour/7 day a week work environment with varying shifts including weekends and holidays.
