What are the responsibilities and job description for the Access Control Supervisor/Locksmith position at Mesquite ISD?
- Troubleshoot, repair and maintain Access Control System, Electronic Key System, Locking Devices, Visitor Management System, and any other hardware related to the same for MISD.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Texas Drivers License with less than three (3) moving traffic violations within the past three (3) years
- Certified Locksmith – or obtain certification within three (3) months
- Demonstrate successful experience in locksmithing
- Exhibit working knowledge of locksmithing tools and power equipment and be skillful in the use of each
- Demonstrate the ability to design, install, and/or repair locking systems
- Hand tools, drill, key machine, other locksmith specialized equipment as required
- Successful “hands on” experience for a minimum of five (5) years
- Install, adjust, maintain and repair a variety of medium and high security locking devices, including low voltage electric door hardware, Tubular locks, and related hardware such as exit devices, exit alarms, door closures, door coordinators, hinges, cabinet and drawer locks, walk-in cooler, freezers and refrigerator locks.
- Install, maintain, upgrade, troubleshoot and electronic key systems and related components.
- Install and replace safes, including opening safes for which the key has been lost and cut new keys.
- Maintain accurate physical inventory of all replacement parts.
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding records, reports and investigations.
- Maintain good communication with team members and a positive and professional work environment.
- Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality regarding key codes, facility codes, etc.
- Assistant with investigations into lost key as needed.
- Operate locksmithing electrical machines to duplicate and cut keys to code.
- Impression keys for locks that have no keys.
- Perform preventative maintenance on all locking devices and electronic systems.
- Create and maintain Level 3 or higher Master Key Bitting Arrays.
- Repin locks according to existing and newly created Master Key Systems.
- Change mechanical and electric safe combinations and repair or replace safe combination locks and doors as required.
- Unlock stuck safe bolts and may be required to use safe penetration techniques when a safe cannot be opened by normal means.
- Supervise employees in Locksmith Department
