What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director - Payroll position at Mesquite ISD?
- To lead, develop, oversee the processing and accounting of the District’s payroll while ensuring compliance with state and federal agencies (TRS, IRS, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Related Field
- TASBO Certification preferred.
- Knowledge of public school accounting.
- Excellent oral and written communication, public relation, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of technology and its use to enhance the efficiency of the Business Services department.
- Highly effective organizational and consensus building skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures of MISD.
- Knowledge and understanding of all IRS statutes, TRS statutes, and State statutes.
- Successful experience in the payroll accounting and budgeting process
- Set up payroll accounting for all employees.
- Responsible for the preparation and approval verification of all salary and deduction changes.
- Responsible for the processing and maintaining all attendance records for employees.
- Responsible for the preparation of all TRS reports.
- Responsible for the preparation of all state reporting requirements.
- Responsible for the preparation of all federal reports including 941 reports and W-2s
- Responsible for the preparation of Med Bill report.
- Process and complete inquiries for outside agencies on current and former employees.
- Assist with the design and implementation of new software.
- Assist auditors with annual audit.
- Responsible for Kronos software and time clock system.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Supervise payroll staff and coordinate with all departments and campuses.
- Communicating well regarding proper treatment in financial matters.
- Keeping abreast of new state and federal legislation concerning payroll and accounting requirements.
