PRIMARY PURPOSE :
- To learn the policies and procedures of the Food and Nutrition Services by attending classes, observation and hand-on training to the assigned kitchen. Follow requirements set forth by the Child Nutrition Programs, as well as, local, state, and federal regulations.

High School Diploma or Graduate Record Exam (GED)Completion of a credited sanitation course and maintain certificationSpecial Knowledge / Skills :
To be able to learn and comprehend the district and Child Nutrition Programs requirements, how to use the equipment and appliances in principles of quantity food preparation.Ability to communicate both verbally and written.Demonstrate ability to manage personnel and maintain confidentiality.Demonstrates competence in computer and money counting skills.Ability to get along and work well with others.Exhibit effective planning and organizational skills.Self-motivated and self-directed.Experience :
One year of school food service experience (preferred).MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :
To learn the policies and procedures set by TDA, USDA, and the City of Mesquite Health Department and follows regulations by attending classes given by the Program Supervisor and complete all work assignments.Follows all rules, regulations, policies and procedures of Mesquite ISD, Food and Nutrition Services and follows directives from the Program Supervisor, Field Supervisor and Manager.Handles money taken from students and staff with the highest integrity and ensuring that all deposits in POS accounts and to the bank are accurate.Observes training of Nutrition Specialist.Hands-on training and observation of planning, production and procedures of the operations of the kitchen.Aware of the ordering food and supplies procedures with the electronic ordering system and has trained on the system to ensure all items are ordered on the menu.Review records on food and supplies received and used in the kitchen.Observe and hands-on learning of daily activities in the kitchen and cafeteria to maintain a safe and hazard-free working environment.Works with the manager and specialist on food production to ensure the safety and quality of food according per departmental guidelines and health codes and safety regulations of the Mesquite Health Department.To learn HACCP guidelines for temperature and sanitation to determine if food items are stored in a safe and hazard-free environment.Completes HACCP (Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points) checklist 1 time per year at an assigned campus.Observe serving schedules and line service to determine if the menu specifications defined by departmental policies and procedures are followed.Train on completing the food cost form and sending it by e-mail to the Director.Observes the training of employees at the campus in order to promote efficiency, employee morale, and teamwork.Train on completing work orders and the procedure for keeping records for maintenance on equipment in the kitchen.Trains on Point of Sale (back and front of the house) to become efficient in training when assigned to a kitchen.Follows attendance policy.Follows guidelines given by the dietitian to meet nutrition standards for all foods prepared and served.May be assigned to a kitchen as "acting manager" for an indefinite interval.10 hours of Professional Standard hours documented each school yearPerform other functions and duties as assigned by program supervisor, field supervisor or manager.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
