Job Overview
The Café Assistant/Manager In Training will be accountable for assisting the Café Manager in daily Team Member, labor, and store operations management. This will require you to be accountable for ensuring Team Members in your department follow Company standards, kindly coaching them as needed on best practices, and reporting Team Member performance concerns to applicable parties. You should be bringing your creativity and ideas to the table to help elevate your Café to provide an exceptional Team Member, guest, vendor, and client experience.
Duties/Responsibilities
· Tasked with providing exceptional guest services to those who visit your Café, from welcoming guests in a friendly/professional manner to assisting them in item selection and elevating their knowledge of our diverse product offerings whenever possible.
· Tasked with providing timely, friendly, and accurate engagement with guests who reach out via email or phone to your Cafe.
· Assist Department Leader where necessary on shift scheduling, call-outs, tardies, etc., to ensure that daily labor and revenue goals are met.
· Keep workspace clean and organized, according to local state and city health department and FairWave policies and regulations.
· Hold Team Members accountable where necessary for not following proper food/beverage safety protocols or FairWave documentation requirements for things like waste logs, or other logs where necessary.
· Assist in new Team Member training and be part of the integration process to ensure all new Team Members understand our policies, procedures, and daily Department practices.
· Provide kind and timely feedback to Team Members, as you see fit to ensure that the products being produced adhere to Company standards.
· Accountable for assisting your Café Manager in creating a sense of pride and ownership for your Café.
· Accountable for communication through other Market communication platforms used for engaging with Team Members and responding to Team Member inquiries in a timely and respectful manner.
· Tasked with not only learning our recipes but being open to feedback on our processes to elevate your knowledge of day-to-day kitchen operations.
· Accountable for upholding the company policies and procedures as approved by the leadership team.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
· High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
· 1 year of leadership experience preferred.
· 1 year of customer service experience required.
· Prior café or coffee shop experience a plus.
· Familiarity with telephone, office, and point-of-sale software.
· Food handlers’ card and liquor license (when applicable).
· Must be able to lift 50 lbs. to waist height.
· Must be able to lift 30 lbs. above your head.
· Ability to work a flexible work schedule and meet business demands, including weekends and holidays.
· Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Capability to stand on your feet for a shift of 8 hours or more at one time.
· Basic understanding of business metrics.
