Summary:

Responsible for advancing Messenger International’s vision by driving financial excellence and aligning processes with organizational goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise and mentor accounting team providing guidance, performance feedback, and development opportunities
• Oversee daily operations ensuring team accountability and productivity
• Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports to ensure accuracy and timeliness
• Analyze financial performance to identifying patterns, risks, and opportunities
• Provide insights and actionable recommendations based on financial data
• Conduct budget vs. actual analysis and assess the success of forecasted figures
• Collaborate with department leads to develop and monitor budgets effectively
• Lead preparation for the annual financial audit and related remediation
• Manage 1099 preparation and submission
• Evaluate and refine accounting processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
• Implement technology solutions to streamline workflows and improve reporting capabilities
• Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards
• Oversee donor-restricted funds
• Collaborate with other departments to align financial strategies with organizational goals
• Maintain and reconcile inventory records
• Serve as a key financial resource for leadership and teams
• Other related duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• CPA certification required
• 5 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role
• Proficiency in Sage Intacct and QuickBooks Online
• Advanced Excel skills
• Familiar with GAAP Accounting Principles
• Familiar with AI tools

Spiritual Requirements:

• Signed acknowledgment of Messenger’s “Statement of Faith” and “Staff Covenant/Lifestyle Agreement” forms
• Signed acknowledgment of policies and procedures as stated in our employee handbook

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to function independently and communicate effectively
• Capability to lift up to 25 pounds (with or without assistance)
• This position may require long periods of sitting, standing, or walking

Work Location:

Colorado Springs, CO area. Must be able to present evidence of identity and legal right to work in the United States.

Job Type/Schedule:

Full-time, 40-hour work week with the potential for occasional overtime. This is an exempt position and is not subject to overtime pay in accordance to the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Salary:

This role has a base salary range of $75,000 - $85,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
