Job Summary:
Restorative Nursing Assistant (RNA) completes Restorative Nursing Programs (RNPs) with residents who have been referred by Therapy/Restorative Nursing Coordinator and require restorative services to gain or maintain their highest practicable level of functioning.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Provide direct restorative care, as assigned, completing work accurately, safely and in a timely manner. Specific care to include: passive range of motion (ROM) and active ROM, ambulation, special positioning techniques, splints, assistive feeding devices/adaptive equipment, ADL training, restorative dining/eating, transfer, bed mobility and communication.

Coach and assist neighborhood nursing assistants in positioning, ROM, ambulation, ADL safety device application, appropriate padding and wheelchair cushions, splint, heel float devices and contracture care and educates related to RNP, when residents are referred.

Notify the Restorative Nursing/Wound Care Manager when a resident is regressing/progressing or refusing to participate in the program so that an assessment can be done to change the program or care plan can be made, as indicated.

Serve as a resource and teammate to other nursing assistants, working with them to provide the specific restorative nursing care for each resident

Ability to communicate with interdisciplinary team members, Restorative Nursing Manager, residents and families

Ability to document progress and record restorative minutes in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)

Attend staff in-services

Follow emergency procedures and responds rapidly and appropriately to emergencies ensuring the safety of the residents and staff

Follow proper procedures and promote safe work practices in order to maintain a safe working environment

Work cooperatively and productively with others, including residents, families, and other employees

Actively participates in orientation and training of new team members

Willingness to work under direction and supervision

Confidentiality regarding resident information must be maintained in strict confidence, as well as other information pertaining to the business of Messiah Lifeways

Accountable and responsible for the delivery of Restorative Nursing program services utilizing program guidelines
-
Follow monthly schedule for assigned audits- RNP notebooks, splinting books, etc.

Responsibly care for restorative equipment- cleaning, disinfecting and storing properly
-
Timely MDS documentation and communication with RNACs
-
Additional duties and tasks as assigned, which are within the physical capabilities as designated by the attending physician

Will assist with resident feeding during mealtimes as needed

May be pulled to CNA to support staffing and resident needs PRN
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:

Sincere desire to work with individuals who may be frail and aged

Must have sense of responsibility, moral integrity, good judgment, alertness and skill in recognizing and identifying symptoms and dealing with behavioral problems

Communication skills regarding resident status and progression

Ability to work closely with a team and collaborate to coordinate daily responsibilities and tasks
Education/Experience:
-
Nursing Assistant training and current registration on the Nurse Aide Registry, meet requirements to maintain registration

Education and training by a licensed therapist, the Restorative Nursing Management Coordinator and competency tested annually
