Seeking to hire a Molecular Biology Lab Technician for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Chicago. The ideal candidate will have experience performing routine molecular biology laboratory techniques, including DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and DNA sequencing. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing experiments under the supervision of the lab manager or senior researchers, documenting experimental results accurately, and assisting in the maintenance of the laboratory.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform routine molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and DNA sequencing, under the supervision of the lab manager or senior researchers
- Carry out routine laboratory duties including media and buffer preparation
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure that they are in good working condition
- Accurately document experimental procedures, results, and data in electronic laboratory notebooks
- Assist in the development and optimization of new molecular biology protocols as needed
- Adhere to laboratory safety protocols

Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related fields
- At least 2 years of experience in a molecular biology laboratory setting
- Strong experience with molecular biology techniques
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment, such as pipettes, centrifuges, thermocyclers, and gel electrophoresis apparatuses
- Excellent record-keeping skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
