Messina is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician for a contract role in Silverton, OR. This position assists the QA Coordinator with the daily activities associated with assurance of raw material and product quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Works closely with production operators to ensure accurate test results. Responsible for product QC results and product testing to ensure compliance to specification and customer requirements.
- Maintains quality standards to provide an accurate reference of acceptable product ranges for production.
- Ensures that incoming raw materials meet specified requirements. Gathers samples from incoming raw materials and completes testing as required.
- Coordinates submission of samples going to contract laboratories and filing of results.
- Maintains laboratory equipment and instrumentation through prescribed cleaning and monitoring procedures.
- Verifies calibration and parameters of laboratory equipment.
- Maintains a high level of cleanliness and organization of laboratory and supplies.
- Maintains product retention samples inventory and database.
- Maintains accurate laboratory records.
- Responsible for sample inventory, packaging and shipping product samples to customer.
- Special projects as assigned by the QA Manager and/or QA Coordinator.
- Assist with internal audits as needed.
- Hold Program Maintenance and associated task such as: Entry into spreadsheet, initiating hold form, labeling and un-labeling product from hold.
- Daily sensory set up on finished product
- Initiates Disposition and Release of finished goods
- C of A creation
Food Safety Responsibility:
a. Maintain Hold and Release Program.
b. Create and apply (or remove) hold labels.
c. Place out of specification product on hold.
d. Perform raw material and finished product testing.
e. Perform / Assist with internal audits and quality tours.
f. Disposition incoming goods.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates degree in science related field or four years’ experience in laboratory or quality setting.
- Must have demonstrated abilities in written and oral communication.
- Must be able to perform general office duties including data entry and filing.
- The person in this position must have ability to problem solve, prioritize, follow-through on multiple tasks, meet deadlines and work in a safe, efficient manner; abiding by all safety related policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prioritization and time management skills
- Microbiological testing experience
- Experience working in an ISO environment
- Experience with data entry (MS Word, MS Excel)
- Bilingual – Spanish, French – a plus!
- Customer service skills
- Food handler / HACCP training or experience
