Job Description
Working under the general direction of the Purchasing Manager, the Buyer is responsible for purchasing materials and services in addition to scheduling, expediting, and inventory control. Clerical duties require the application of various work methods and procedures, and familiarity with department functions, policies, and practices.
Schedule-
Our core business hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The start time can be semi-flexible up to 1 hour before our core hours. Hours expectation of 40 hours per week on site.
Wage-
It will depend on experience and education. The range is $20-$25 per hour.
Essential Duties
- Assesses supplier capabilities, selects suppliers, manages relationships with suppliers, develops alternate sources, evaluates supplier performance, and negotiates price and delivery.
- Solicits quotations for new and existing businesses.
- Reviews purchase requisitions for compliance with established procedures and policies.
- Reconciles discrepancies in Accounts Payable, Receivable, or other departments.
- Minimizes product lead time and finds innovative methods to reduce inventory investment.
- Analyzes decision-making and vendor selection to avoid negative consequences.
- Works closely with all departments to thoroughly understand each operation.
- Develops new methods or modifies existing methods, techniques, and procedures to ensure processes are efficient and cost-effective.
- Performs other similar or related duties as required or requested.
Preferred Experience
- Some technical knowledge is required in understanding blueprints and engineering change processes, etc.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing information systems and related modules.
- Ability to use computer software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- High energy, high integrity, self-starter requiring minimal supervision.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Occasional travel will be required.
Physical Demands
The individual will regularly be required to stand. The individual will frequently be required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The individual will occasionally be required to sit, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The individual must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this role include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
