Position Summary:
The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) is a federal program that provides nutritious, no- and low-cost meals to children each school day. Met Council is now taking over the administration of the program in the New York area for 135 observant Jewish schools that form the USDA New York State Kosher Coop (Coop). This program supports bulk ordering and distribution to schools in the Coop and ensures compliance with federal guidelines while adhering to the strict dietary requirements specific to Hasidic and Yeshivish communities.
Met Council is seeking a Manager of the National School Lunch Program to oversee the program and facilitate a smooth transition. The manager will act as the primary liaison between the schools, the National School Lunch Program, OGS, and internal teams to ensure that the program is operating efficiently.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Lead the transition of program operations to Met Council, ensuring minimal disruption to participating schools.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for 135 observant Jewish schools in New York, the National School Lunch Program, New York State Office of General Services (OGS), and Met Councils Food Programs, ensuring clear communication and efficient coordination.
- Partner with each school to manage their allocated funding each school year, coordinating group orders to comply with OGS full truckload shipment requirement.
- Develop and implement streamlined processes that integrate into Met Councils existing data systems including Salesforce and Market by Met Council to manage orders and program finances.
- Establish policies for school delivery requests, setting expectations on order minimums, scheduling, and cost management.
- Be an active member of the Food Programs team, participate in team meetings and retreats, and work cross-functionally to support the departments goals and missions.
- Additional responsibilities as required.

Skill and Education:
- Bachelors Degree (required)
- Proven experience in program management, preferably at a non-profit
- Experience building relationships with community and government leaders
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of Salesforce, ERPs, and other digital tools
Compensation: $75,000 to $95,000 per year.
